At Confident Orthodontics we are using the latest technology to help protect our patients and to give them the very best health prognosis going forward that is why we have decided to offer DNA Saliva Testing.

It has been long understood that the earlier you detect possible health problems, the better the outcome, so we have taken the decision to incorporate saliva diagnostic testing into the treatment offered.

This specialist DNA Saliva testing is not available in the UK and we are also one of the few offering this service in Europe, and as such have been accepting referrals from as far as Denmark.

The specialist, non-invasive test allows us to test for early signs of a number of diseases including:

  • Oral diseases
    • Periodontal
    • Caries
  • Cardiovascular Diseases
  • Diabetes
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Sjorgrens Syndrome
  • Oral cancers
  • HPV

This is a major breakthrough in preventative medicine. The above are all detectable through saliva testing and although they may be virtually invisible symptoms-wise in their early stages, they are present in the protein molecules and genetic material in saliva.

What does this mean for our patients?

  • We are the first Orthodontists in the UK to offer this non-invasive preventative testing
  • We are able to detect and treat oral diseases before they are evident through tooth decay and accelerated gum disease, which means less tooth loss and subsequent treatment costs
  • We are able to test for these very specific diseases before they develop

With the results from these tests we will be able to identify an individual’s genetic susceptibility to periodontal disease and establish if you are at increased risk for more severe periodontal infections due to an exaggerated immune response. We can also personalise therapy and treatment required.

Alongside out non-invasive Periowave treatment for gum disease we are able to give all round preventative and management treatment to help you maintain a healthy mouth and strong teeth.
